• Professional Development

    The CAAT supports and funds professional development activities which have reached thousands of people in the first four years of operation. Examples of these professional development activities include:

    First Responders and Nissan LeafFirst responders training for an electric vehicle emergency

    • Alternative propulsion vehicle first responder training for 80 emergency/first responders in Akron, Ohio
    • Annual conferences in partnership with the Design for Manufacturing Alliance (DMA), Center for Automotive Research (CAR), and SAE International involving 200 community college and high school instructors;
    • Annual fall SEMATA (South Eastern Michigan Automotive Teachers Association) Workshop (150 regional high school automotive instructors participate)
    • Conferences presentations about advanced automotive technology, curricula reform, and leveraging grants
    • Curricula creation and reform through seed funding 
    • Seminar support on advanced materials and joining technologies event hosted by the American Society of Body Engineers Foundation
    • Short courses on electric vehicle technology for educators and automotive industry professionals
    • Sponsor participation in local and national conference events
    • Summer High School Instructor Training (2-days) including an electric vehicle (EV)/hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) ride and drive, and three four-hour modules focused on EVs and HEVs.
    • Webinars for advanced automotive technology curricula development and the future of automotive technology
